Internship Programme Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon - UK

We are looking for enthusiastic, proactive vets who are passionate about animal wellbeing and healthcare, and passionate about delivering an outstanding service for patients and clients alike.

Ideally you will be experienced in carrying out basic surgical procedures, administering anaesthesia and conducting routine healthchecks and vaccinations. You will be a vet who recognises the importance of continuous professional development; someone who uses every available opportunity to strengthen your practical skills and experience.

To join the programme you must:

  • Hold a relevant veterinary degree
  • Be eligible to register with the RCVS, or already be a member.
  • Have the right to work in the UK
  • Be able to communicate fluently in English.

Our International Vet Programme is available to vets that have qualified outside of the UK and provides a structured, developmental route to becoming a confident and successful vet. The programme will run for a period of 3-12 months (depending upon your individual needs) and provides you with the opportunity to build your clinical skills and knowledge whilst working in a first opinion small animal practice, in the UK.

Covering all aspects of life in practice, the programme is hands-on, giving you the opportunity to interact with clients, conduct routine health appointments (including sick pets) build upon your surgical skills and create your own client base.

You will be assigned a senior Vet who will act as your mentor and will provide support throughout the duration of your programme. Within the first month your mentor will make an assessment of your current skills and abilities and then provide you with a tailored, structured development plan focussing on the three key areas: consultation sign off, surgery expectations and surgical sign off. Your progress will be reviewed regularly and you'll receive continuous support and guidance through constructive feedback and general supervision.

In addition to a tailored benefits package which includes at least 28 days holiday, we offer a competitive salary of £22,500 whilst on programme. Upon successful completion of programme you will be eligible to apply for a permanent position in any of our practices across the UK, or you may get the opportunity to stay in the practice where you completed programme.
